Grenoble<\/strong> is a dynamic city with plenty of history and culture, and its proximity to the Alps makes it a popular launch-pad for outdoor sports enthusiasts. Well-known ski resorts within a short drive of the city include Chamrousse<\/a> and Villard-de Lans<\/a>, plus those best-known to locals, such as the ski stations of the Chartreuse<\/strong>, Les 7 Laux<\/a> or Le Collet d\u2019Allevard<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

However, Grenoble also lies at the gateway to the Massif de l’Oisans<\/strong>, home of several internationally-renowned resorts including Alpe d\u2019Huez<\/a>. This huge ski area is lift-linked to the surrounding villages of Auris-en-Oisans<\/strong>, Oz-en-Oisans<\/a>, Villard Reculas<\/strong> and Vaujany<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Fast Autoroute Links<\/h2>\n

Take the A43 from Grenoble and you can be in the Three Valleys<\/strong> and resorts such as Courchevel<\/a>, Les Menuires<\/a>, M\u00e9ribel<\/a>, Saint Martin de Belleville<\/strong> and nearby Valmorel <\/a>in around two hours. Alternatively, the family resorts in Vall\u00e9e de la Maurienne<\/strong> also deserve to be discovered, such as Les Sybelles<\/a> (just over 2 hours from Grenoble) Valfr\u00e9jus<\/a> and Valloire\/Valmeinier<\/a>. Another plus for the Maurienne is back-door high-speed gondola lift access to Val Thorens<\/strong> and the 3 Valleys<\/strong> from Orelle<\/a>, just off the A43 between St Michel de Maurienne and Modane, and which has free parking close to the lift.<\/p>\n

Tolls on autoroutes can build in big delays on your journey time to the slopes, especially at peak times. Grenoble-Is\u00e8re airport is conveniently situated for access directly onto the A48 autoroute (toll route) and provides quick and straightforward access to some of the best skiing in the Alps. <\/p>\n

There are budget flights available from across Britain including Easyjet<\/strong> who have connections from Edinburgh, Liverpool, Bristol, London Luton and London Gatwick.<\/p>\n\n
