1888 Creation of the ‘Maison Séraphin Bollé’ - a business producing combs and hair ornaments in Celluloid, a new material which would become the company’s key material.

1936 The Company’s first sunglasses and frames made from Celluloid.

1940 Georges Bollé adopts new technology with the injection machine, a major innovation in eyeglass manufacturing.
During the war years the Bollé know-how is put to use in the military industry.

1946 Production of the first pair of glasses in another new material: Nylon.

1960 Production of the first ski sunglasses.

1968 The beginning of sport sponsorship, as Jean-Claude Killy joins the Bollé Team.

1993 Following on from developments in the pharmaceutical industry, Bollé creates a system grading levels of protection for sunglasses.

2000 January: Bollé is purchased by Bushnell Performance Optics.

2005 Distribution of Bollé prescription sunglasses (Rx programme).

2006 Launch of a collection of Bollé Optics - optical frames.

2007 Distribution of the Bollé textile licence.

2008 Launch of a line of ski helmets.

This anniversary underlines the remarkable rise of the Bollé brand, which has never ceased innovating and building on its quality know-how.
