The Rhône-Alpes Region is blessed with the largest resevoir of water in France, with more than a million kilometres of river, around 30 lakes and over 1000 natural pools. In addition there are numerous glaciers plus hundreds of springs, of which about twenty are exploited under well-known brand names like Evian, Badoit and Vals. Then there is the Rhône itself, 812km long and the most powerful of French rivers.
Within the Rhône-Alpes region are 15 stations thermales or thermal spas providing relief to sufferers of many ailments. Set in the highest of mountain pastures above the Lac de Roselend in the Beaufortain region of the French Alps, M Blanc creates award winning Chalet Beaufort d'Alpage cheese which we observed being being made and then tasted its wonderfully complex flavours derived from the Alpine grasses and flowers.
